Jordan- Initiative launched to support underprivileged families in Tafileh, Zarqa

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Youssef Issawi on Monday attended the launch of a Royal Initiative to support underprivileged families in Tafileh and Zarqa.

The initiative seeks to provide these families with the means to create small income-generating projects to improve their living conditions, in addition to offering them training and resources to aid in their success, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Royal Initiative will also train civil society institution personnel to improve the quality of services provided to local communities.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Community Centre Association, the party responsible for overseeing the execution of the initiative, signed a number of agreements with 30 other charitable organisations that will contribute to achieving the designated goals.

In its first phase, the initiative aims to implement 310 small production projects.

'Royal Initiatives seek to realise His Majesty King Abdullah's visions towards enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens and the means to live comfortably,' Issawi said.

He added that the initiative supports the empowerment of youth and women who wish to have their own projects, noting that it would reflect positively on their participation in a number of fields.

During the inauguration, Social Development Minister Basma Ishaqat said that the project will allow 30 associations to play a role in mitigating poverty and employment in various regions within Zarqa and Tafileh.
