Be Ready To Deal With New Challenges: Army


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) POONCH — Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command, accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh visited forward bases and posts in Poonch and Krishnaghati Sector to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation.

During the visit to the sectors, the Army Commander was briefed by the commanders on ground about the current operational situation, prevailing security scenario and the preparedness of the formations in dealing with the same, a defence ministry spokesman said.

'The Army Commander was also briefed on use of high end technological equipment and innovations by the units on ground to monitor the intrusions and infiltration bids on Line of Control.'

 During the visit, the army spokesman said the Army Commander was also updated by Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, White Knight Corps Commander, on the measures instituted for a peaceful Shri Amarnath ji Yatra by ensuring a safe and conducive environment for the people coming for the pilgrimage through superior and aggressive domination of the area by the troops and defensive measures put in place to thwart the nefarious designs of the anti national elements.

'The Army Commander interacted with the soldiers and complimented them for their unwavering dedication to duty, selfless devotion and high standard of professionalism,' the spokesman said, adding, 'He was appreciative of the measures and standard operating procedures instituted by the units and formations in their area of responsibility to minimise the casualties due to cease fire violations, infiltration bids and nefarious activities by anti national elements.'

 The need to be prepared for effectively meeting current emerging security challenge was also reinforced, the spokesman said. 'He exhorted all ranks on the need to remain vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of the enemy and anti- national elements. The Army Commander appreciated the preparedness and the morale of all soldiers.'
