Doha: Around 27,000 people are now availing of Qatar Museums (QM) Culture Pass membership programme's many benefits which have been expanded this summer in partnership with Qatar National Tourism Council's Summer in Qatar (SiQ) programme.

'We have around 27,000 members from all categories of the public in Qatar, from CEOs to ambassadors to teachers to housewives. Our members are very much engaged with our tours. They attend our exhibitions, participate in workshops and special events, and take advantage of special offers and discounts in cafes, Fahad Al Obaidly, Membership Coordinator, told The Peninsula.

Since its launch in 2014, Culture Pass has made Qatar's vibrant culture and arts scene much more accessible to the public through big discounts in QM outlets as well as free access to many of its events and activities. With the rollout of Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family membership in March, the scope of the benefits have been made wider and more inclusive.

'Basically we want to get Qataris and residents even tourists closer to all the beautiful things Qatar has to offer, from archaeological sites to public art tours to art exhibitions and the Culture Pass is the way to get closer to these, so Culture Pass has become channel for Qatar to promote culture and heritage and engage the public with what we do, said Al Obaidly.

Al Obaidly added Culture Pass has been an effective way to expose Qatari culture and heritage in particular and art in general to the public in various formats such as tours, exhibitions, workshops and master classes.

It is QM's goal to 'not only position Qatar as a cultural destination but more on what Qatar has to offer in terms of cultural preservation and the awareness of art. What QM is doing is push people to think through its various initiatives like public art. For the first time, QM has partnered with QNTC's SiQ expanding the benefits to Culture Pass Plus and Family card holders huge discounts of up to 70 percent at SiQ entertainment and game providers which include discounts in game parks, concerts, family shows.  'This year we have partnered with QNTC for the Summer in Qatar in order to give access to the public to the various benefits that QNTC and their partners are offering with regard to cultural events and entertainment using the QM Culture Pass as a channel, said Al Obaidly.

Members of Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family will enjoy exclusive discounts on entry passes at a range of edutainment and theme parks across Qatar such as Entertainment City, Trimoo Parks, KidzMondo Doha, Megapolis, Minipolis, Go Fun, Circusland, Power Loads, Bounce, Kidzania.  Members can avail of 20 percent discounts on ticketed shows including the Smurfs Live, Hello Kitty, the Blue Man Group, Doha Comedy Festival, Marshmello concert, South Indian International Movie Awards and Kadim Al Saher concert.
