(MENAFN - The Peninsula) QNADoha: The Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC) celebrated yesterday the graduation of its class of the 2018-2019 academic year, which exceeded a total of 100 graduates spread over different specialisations.
The Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti congratulated the graduates, expressing his appreciation of their success and determination to play a role in the development of the State of Qatar and their countries.
His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar continuously emphasises the importance of investing in human development and human resources in the implementation of its 2030 national vision. This is clear in the country's strong focus on education, which contributes to social and economic development.
The Minister said that Qatar's education investment in the aviation field yielded 5,578 diploma holders from Qatar Aeronautical College and graduates of short courses who now work in their countries.
The Minister noted that the past few years saw the College conclude several agreements and memorandums of understanding. It has also worked on enhancing the content of its library, modernize its fleet, recruit the most competent trainers, bring in the latest training equipment and increase technical training. These efforts, HE the minister said, were to provide the ideal environment for students to study commercial aviation, aircraft maintenance engineering, air surveillance, meteorology, airport management, security management and other fields.
The Director-General of QAC, Jabor bin Hamad Al Thani, said at his speech that the college is working on achieving its goals of providing training to those who wish to specialize in different parts of the aviation industry. His Excellency noted that the college now provides the local and international market with new cadres.
His Excellency said that the college managed to twin its programmes and develop all aspects of its educational process in order to ensure the training of strong cadres. The college is also working on partnering with international universities in the field of research and higher education that will be completed in the near future.
He noted that the college's activities propelled the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to have the college host the 5th Global Aviation Training and TRAINAIR PLUS Symposium. During that time, the college signed a Memorandum of Understanding with France's ENAC for a master's programme in air safety management. The programme attracted 15 students who were employees in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Hamad International Airport, Civil Aviation Authority. They joined the programme on March 17 of 2019, and are expected to graduate in August of 2020.
The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 33 students of the Ministry of the Interior studying in Diploma in Security and Immigration Management, including 19 graduates from the airport security department, and 14 graduates from the airport passport department.
H E Director of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi , congratulated the graduates, stressing that the Ministry of Interior is working to keep up with the development and arming its children with knowledge to be a building block in the security edifice and in their role in maintaining security and stability in a modern and sophisticated manner.
