(MENAFN) The Prague Chinese International School has planned a singing contest of Chinese songs for overseas Chinese was held on Saturday in Prague, capital city of the Czech Republic; it"s also a part of the Water Cube Cup Chinese Songs Singing Competition.
12 contestants joined the final district-level competition in adult and youth groups. In the youth group Zhou Yini and Li Jue won the first and second places and Du Jie got the first place in the adult group.
The three winners will go to Beijing later to continue in the final of Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Singing contest.
Since the contest is considered as a bridge between overseas Chinese and their motherland, Wu Guang, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, encouraged overseas Chinese to act as representatives for culture encouragement and exchange.
The "Water Cube Cup" Chinese Songs Singing Competition started in 2011and has been held in more than 20 countries and brought hundreds of contestants around the world, and this was the first time such a competition was held in the Czech Republic.
