Oman to host Tent Pegging World Cup qualifier in January 2020

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) In a major decision, the Muscat-based International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF), announced on Wednesday that the World Cup will now be a quadrennial event rather than a biennial affair.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday, Mohamed Issa al Fairuz, the ITPF president, said, 'The fourth edition of the Tent Pegging World Cup will be staged in South Africa in 2021. We had a successful third edition in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2018. After the South Africa World Cup, the event will be held every four years. The World Cup in 2021 is an exception as it will be held after three years.'

'For the 2021 World Cup,  qualfying rounds for four different groups will be held. The top three teams from each group will advance to the next round and the best six of the 12 nations will make it to the finals in South Africa,' added Fairuz.
