3.8 percent boost in Iranian crude steel output

(MENAFN) Iran produced 2.235 million tons of crude steel during the fifth month of this year, marking a 3.8 percent surge on annual basis.

World Steel Association (WSA) issued a report, confirming the figures to be compared to the 2.153 million tons of crude steel generated in May 2018.

Such a boost was achieved in the face of sanctions the United States imposed against Iranian metals, as reported Tasnim news agency.

Deputy industry, mining and trade minister Jafar Sarqini stated: "we have established a special working group in the ministry which is closely assessing the situation and making necessary arrangements to mitigate the impact of U.S. sanctions."
