Qatar's Ambassador to Singapore hosts dinner banquet for tennis team

Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Singapore, H E Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, hosted a dinner banquet in honor of the delegation of Qatar's national tennis team before their campaign in 2019 Davis Cup.

On this occasion, the Qatari Ambassador stressed the importance of the tournament.

He also hailed the great sporting boom of the state of Qatar under the leadership of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where many accomplishments were achieved in all fields, the last of which was the successful participation of Al Annabi in the 2019 Copa America in Brazil.

The Ambassador also added that Tennis became so popular in Qatar as Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) hosts a huge number of international tennis events including Qatar ExxonMobil Open and Qatar Total Open which attracts world's top tennis stars.

He also wished all success for the Qatari national team in Davis Cup.

The head of Qatar's delegation to the event, Ahmed Al Obaidli, thanked Ambassador Al Hamar for his support to the Qatari national team before the event.

Al Obaidli said that the players promised the Federation to do their best to qualify to Davis Cup Group II and announced that the draw of event will be held today.

2019 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III will bring together Qatar, Kuwait, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Vietnam and Singapore.

As per the ITF rules the participating teams in the 2019 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III will be divided into two groups where the winners and runners-up will qualify to Group II.
