2019 economic projection in Mexico downgraded to 1.2 percent

(MENAFN) Mexico was struck with a reduction in its economic projection for last year by the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (IMEF) amid trade tensions.

Worries over a potential international recession pushed the IMEF to downgrade the country's forecast to stand at 1.2 percent from the previous 1.4 percent.

IMF emphasized recently that the Mexican economy is expected to be ahead of a "complex and highly uncertain" scenario.

It added: "the U.S. threat of imposing tariffs on all Mexican imports, leaving aside the established legal order, represents a blow to world trade, which increases uncertainty about the economic outlook."
