Lebanese PM: reforms need fast approval of 2019 budget to start


(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri urged the parliament to hurry ratification of 2019 state budget to allow reforms to start, a statement by the PM's office reported.

Hariri emphasized during a meeting for the council of ministers, "We have discussed the 2019 budget during 19 meetings in the council of ministers. We should approve it to send positive signals to the international community about our seriousness to implement reforms".

The prime minister affirmed that the government needs to work quickly in order to start with the first stage of investments backed by CEDRE.

He stated, "We should make the necessary appointments in the public sector, in addition to reforming and overhauling the different economic sectors".
