International Day of Yoga in Qatar on June 22

The Embassy of India in Doha is celebrating the 5th International Day of Yoga on June 22. The celebration is a part of global commemoration of the International Day of Yoga and will be held at National Museum of Qatar from 5 - 6 am and in evening it will be held at Qatar Sports Club Multi Purpose Indoor Hall from 7 - 8pm on Saturday.

Inspired by the response of enthusiastic Yoga practitioners from various parts of Qatar in the past four editions of International Day of Yoga in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Embassy of India is also organising Yoga camps & workshops at Asian Town, Al Khor and Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum on June 21.

Dukhan recreational Centre will host Yoga activity on June 28. Many schools in Qatar are also organising Yoga from June 16 to 20. The events on June 22 will not only include Yoga demonstrations by experts but also provide an opportunity for all to participate in Yoga session which will be based on the Common Yoga Protocol and will comprise of various postures and breathing techniques, followed by meditation.

As a prelude to the celebration of the 5th International Day of Yoga, numerous workshops and demonstrations in collaboration with well known Doha based Yoga Studios have been conducted by the Embassy in last two months including workshops for students in various schools based in Doha. In addition, Yoga sessions for Indian community based in Al Khor were also organised on a regular basis.

On December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga and on June 21, 2015, the first International Day of Yoga was celebrated worldwide.
