Qatar- CRA urges landlords to grant service providers access to deploy fiber network

Doha: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) today urged landlords to give consent to service providers for access to their properties for the deployment of their fibre optic networks, as per the current regulations.

This comes in line with CRA's efforts to encourage customer choice and to improve quality of service in the fixed-line market in Qatar.

The landlords' consent form is included in the Reference Infrastructure Access Offer. The landlords' consent enables service providers to reach customers with their fixed fibre networks and to enhance their mobile services.

President of CRA Mohammed Ali Al Mannai said, "The landlords' consent will further support CRA's efforts to encourage sustainable competition in the fixed-line telecommunications market in Qatar. The service providers will be enabled to provide innovative and competitive services, which will benefit consumers, and contribute to the development of the Information and Communications Technology Sector and to the development of the country's infrastructure."

During fibre deployment, service providers work with professional contractors to carry out the work inside the landlords' properties. The probability of damages during work is very limited. In any case in the unfortunate event of damages provoked by the contractors, service providers are liable for the damages and responsible for compensating the affected landlord.
