Pakistan to Extend Afghan Refugees' Stay, Hopes Kabul


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - The government of Afghanistan hopes Pakistan, which is due to hosta four-way meeting on a repatriation roadmap today, will extend the sty ofAfghan refugees.
On June 30, the Proof of Registration (PoR) cards issued to Afghan refugeesby the Pakistan government expire. The card-holders are allowed to live legallyin the country.
Reza Bahir, deputy spokesman for the MoRR, told Pajhwok Afghan NewsMinister Syed Alami Balkhi was in Islamabad at the head of a high-leveldelegation to discuss issues related to the refugees living in Pakistan.
A four-party meeting was being held in Islamabad today (Monday) on aroadmap for the repatriation of millions of Afghan refugees from Pakistan andIran, he said.
He said Afghan and Pakistani officials would discuss a new extension in thestay of refugees. He hoped Pakistan could extend the Afghan refugees' stay.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have established a bilateral work group onrefugees' return and reintegration within the framework of theAfghanistan-Pakistan Action Plane on Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS). (Pajhwok)
