Afghanistan- Ghani, Hunt Discuss Elections, Peace Process


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani met with Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt, Secretary ofState for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs at his residence in London,according to a statement on Monday.
They discussed how the UK government could play a constructive role in theAfghan peace process in terms of unifying all the voices who want a politicalsolution for the Afghan conflict.
President Ghani also requested Secretary Hunt on behalf of the UKgovernment to play a role in monitoring the upcoming elections for ensuring integrityof the process.
Secretary Hunt said that as a long term partner of Afghanistan, the UKgovernment will do anything it could for the peace process to succeed. Whilepointing at the Afghan democratic institutions, especially electoralinstitutions, he said the UK government will continue to work with Afghanistanfor fostering and strengthening democracy.
President Ghani is on official trip to the United Kingdom. (Pajhwok)
