4 percent jump in Turkish unemployment


(MENAFN) Turkish statistical authority TurkStat revealed a 4 percent boost in the unemployment rate of the country during the third month of this year.

By March 2019, the statistical authority unveiled on Monday, Turkish unemployment rate reached 14.1 percent.

Jobless people in Turkey, aged 15 and more, stood at 4.54 million in March with a 1.33 million increase on annual basis, TurkStat affirmed.

TurkStat noted: "in the same period, [the] non-agricultural unemployment rate occurred as 16.1% with [a] 4.2 percentage point increase."

It added: "while [the] youth unemployment rate including persons aged 15-24 was 25.2% with [a] 7.5 percentage point increase, the unemployment rate for persons aged 15-64 occurred as 14.3% with [a] 4 percentage point increase."
