Yemen Human Rights: 16,000 civilians killed, injured by Houthis since '15


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, June 16 (KUNA) -- More than 16,000 civilians were killed and injured, mostly women and children in the province of Taiz by Houthi militia since March 2015, a Yemeni official report said Sunday.
A copy of the report was received by KUNA from the Ministry of Human Rights in Taiz noted that Houthi militias committed more than 30,000 violations against civilian population during the period from March 2015 to June 15 of this year.
The report also pointed out that attacks by Houthi militias against civilians in Taiz resulted in the deaths of 2,720 civilians and wounding 13,494 others, indicating that most of the victims were women and children.
The report added Houthi militias kidnapped 700 civilians and forced the displacement of 5,600 others, while some 8,000 houses were completely damaged, or even partially damaged during the same period.
The human rights office in Taiz said that the statistics included violations recorded during the monitoring period, indicating that there were other violations not reported, especially in the surrounding parts of the province under the control of the Houthi militias. (end)
