Egypt's Pres.: monitoring closely developments in Gulf area


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, June 16 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi said Sunday that his country is following closely developments in the Gulf area, mainly after the recent attacks on ships and the safety of maritime routes there.
The remarks were made during a meeting Al-Sisi had with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nahyan and UAE Minister of State Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber, Presidency spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radhi said in a statement.
Al-Sisi, added Radhi, stressed importance on Egypt's solidarity and support to UAE government and Arabian Gulf countries in confronting challenges and attempts that might destabilize the region, describing it as part of Egypt's national security.
The spokesman noted on the Egyptian-UAE relations throughout the years, including the strong cooperation and coordination between the two countries since the years of late UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, asserting at the same time on the identical views both countries have regarding various critical challenges in the region.
Radhi added that Sheikh Abdullah expressed his keenness to strengthen relations and security between the two sides and for the benefit of stability in the region.
The spokesman noted on UAE appreciation to Egypt's role in stabilizing the region, affirming on the critical time the region is going through. (end)
