Amman, June 16 (Petra) -- Over 615,000 foreign tourists visited the Kingdom in the first five months of 2019, of those 76 percent were stay-over tourists, said Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB).
He told Petra that these numbers indicate a 23.5 percent increase from last year, noting that the number of tourists for the same period last year was over 498,000 visitors.
The number of European tourists stood at 278,000, constituting 45 percent of the total number, while the number of visitors from the Asia-Pacific region reached 101,809 tourists.
American tourists ranked third at 69,000, while the number of visitors from African countries stood at 8,325 tourists.
