India- Fresh trouble for Hrithik's 'Super 30', IITians call movie 'inauthentic'

(MENAFN- NewsBytes) Super 30 was supposed to be a movie that would inspire millions. The movie, starring Hrithik Roshan, is based on the life of Anand Kumar, who provides free coaching to underprivileged students to get them into IITs.

However, 4 IITians claim Kumar isn't so great after all and the movie is 'inauthentic'.

Their accusations could stall the movie's release.

Here's all about the case.

'Super 30'
Kumar founded 'Super 30' for poor kids, became famous
Kumar shot to stardom with his 'Super 30' program.

The institute was founded in 2002 in Patna, wherein Kumar picked up 30 hardworking students from underprivileged backgrounds and gave them IIT coaching.

It was said that 'Super 30' had a cent percent record. While Kumar got praise, four IIT-Guwahati students (Avinash Baro, Bikash Das, Monjit Doley and Dhaniram Taw) said he was a fraud.

Case
IITians filed a PIL against Kumar
The four students filed a PIL against Kumar at Gauhati High Court last September. Senior advocate Ashok Saraf, who appeared for the IITians, said Kumar has been cheating students.

"Kumar makes the students take admission in his coaching institute, namely Ramanujam School of Mathematics, by charging Rs. 33,000 per student in the name of teaching them," Saraf toldIndia Today .

Separately, Amit Goyal, who is advocate-on-record for the students, said Kumar keeps traveling most of the time.

"Upon inquiry by the four IIT-G students it was revealed that after 2008, Anand Kumar is not running any so-called 'Super 30' classes," Goyal said.

After IIT results are declared, Kumar meets media with a couple of students from his coaching center and calls them 'Super 30' students, Goyal claimed.

Details
Petitioners want Kumar to disclose names of his 'successful students'
In 2018, Kumar said 26 out of 30 'Super 30' students cleared IIT exam. "But he has not disclosed the names of the 26 students who had qualified for the IIT entrance," Goyal said.

The HC asked Kumar to file his response and he reportedly failed to do so.

This infuriated the petitioners who are planning to file a fresh plea against the movie.

Movie can send a wrong message: Goyal

"[The film] seems inauthentic. We never sought to damage the film, but [Kumar] has a court case against him. He is yet to reveal the names to the court. In such a scenario, this movie can send out an incorrect message," Goyal toldMid-Day .

The petitioners are also upset with the fact that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified the movie despite the case.

To recall, Super 30 came at center of a controversy after director Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual harassment. He was given aclean chitrecently and was "duly credited" for his work.

The movie is expected to release on July 12.
