22 percent jump in Algerian foreign direct investment


(MENAFN) Algeria stood at USD1.5 billion in its foreign direct investment (FDI) for last year, marking a 22 percent surge from figures seen in 2017.

Data the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) issued showed that Algeria's FDI in 2018 made up 2.3 percent of the country's gross fixed capital formation.

According to the UNCTAD, last year's biggest FDI was put in the vehicle assembly industry as well as the energy sector.

UNCTAD further added that Algeria reached USD1.2 billion in its FDI for 2017 to drop from the USD1.6 billion seen in 2016.
