Photovoltaic panels for solar energy to be installed in Chilean airport

(MENAFN) Chile is planning to set up photovoltaic panels at Santiago's Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, aiming to start using solar energy.

Vice minister of public works Lucas Palacios confirmed that in order to "illuminate passengers, workers, and all who pass through the airport," Chile is deploying around 3,000 photovoltaic panels at the airport.

Through the move, the minister asserted, the airport's carbon dioxide pollution will witness over 500 tons of cuts per year.

This comes in line with arrangements underway for the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP25) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
