Oman- Tropical depression system developing in Arabian Sea: PACA


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Public Authority for Civil Aviation's (PACA) National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center on Monday announced the formation of a tropical depression system in the southeast of the Arabian Sea.
PACA said that the depression is located at longitude 71.0°E and latitude 12.0°N with estimated surface wind speed around the centre ranging between 17 and 27 knots. The depression is approximately 1,610km from the sultanate's coast of Ras al Madrakah.
Latest numerical weather prediction indicates that the tropical depression is moving towards north to northwest direction along the western coast of India with the probability of further intensification into a deep depression (28-33 knots) within the next 24 hours and a tropical storm (34-63 knots) in 48 hours. 'There will be no impact on the coastal areas of Oman in the next three days. We will keep monitoring the situation of this tropical condition.
