Oman- Petrofac secures $75mn contract from PDO

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has awarded a US$75mn worth of contract to Petrofac, the UK-based global provider of oilfield services to the oil and gas industry, for its project in Mabrouk North East field.
Petrofac has secured its third project under a ten-year framework agreement with PDO with the award of a procurement services project for the Mabrouk North East line pipe procurement project in Oman, Petrofac said in a disclosure on its website.
The new contract is the latest to be awarded to Petrofac under the agreement signed in 2017 to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) support services for PDO's major oil and gas projects.

The 19-month project scope includes management of line pipe material from sourcing, technical and commercial evaluation, planning and control services with management and coordination of interfaces with all parties involved.

Elie Lahoud, group managing director, engineering and construction - Oman, Iraq and Saudi Arabia at Petrofac said, 'We have a strong track record with PDO in Oman and are delighted to have been awarded this latest project under the long-term framework agreement.'

Petrofac said the procurement and management activities for this project will be undertaken from its Muscat office from where the company provides first-class expertise in high-value order management.

'We continue to maximise the provision of local goods and services which evidences our ongoing commitment to delivering in-country value through each of the projects we undertake in the sultanate,' Lahoud added.

In March 2018, PDO had confirmed a 'significant' gas find with estimated recoverable reserves of more than 4tn cubic feet and 112mn barrels of condensate in the northern part of its concession area. Mabrouk North East builds on the discovery made in 2013, when PDO announced another significant find at Mabrouk Deep, some 40km west of Saih Rawl.

In December, Petrofac was awarded a US$115mn contract for the development of the Qarn Alam Co-Generation Project by PDO. This was the second contract to be secured by the company under the landmark ten-year framework agreement with PDO to provide EPCM support services.
