(MENAFN - Asia Times) A 23-year-old Vietnamese man died after crashing his motorbike while being chased by police in Taoyuan, Taiwan, on Thursday morning.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a hospital two hours after a crash.
At 12:39 pm on June 6, two officers from Chingpu Police Station in Jhongli Precinct of the Taoyuan City Police Bureau were on patrol on Dazhu South Road when they noticed the man accelerating away after seeing police, the United Daily News reported.
Two officers followed the man and signaled for him to stop for an inspection. However, he did not obey. At anintersectionthe man lost control and crashed into a road barrier.
He was sent to Ten Chen General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 pm, about two hours after the accident. A preliminary investigation found he was a migrant worker from Vietnam. However, he no longer had a valid work permit.
Taiwan authorities ruled out drink-driving as the victim had a zero blood alcohol reading.
