Egyptian, Eritrean leaders hold talks in Cairo


(MENAFN) On Saturday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi held discussions with his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki in the capital Cairo, where conferred more mutual collaboration and coordination on local and African issues, the Egyptian presidency affirmed in a statement.

At the meeting, Sisi voiced Egypt's desire to consolidating strategic cooperation with Eritrea in various fields and establishing sustainable partnership between the two countries," Egypt's presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady affirmed.

The meeting comes while Egypt's is the current one-year president of the African Union.

Both leaders conferred "close coordination regarding the issues of the region and the continent of Africa in general", according to the Egyptian statement.
