(MENAFN - Daily Outlook Afghanistan) KABUL - Facilitated by theGerman government, intra-Afghan talks will take place in Qatar next month,well-placed sources said on Monday.
A Kabul-base diplomat toldPajhwok Afghan News Germany's special envoy had travelled to Kabul and Qatar tomeet Afghan officials and Taliban representatives several times.
Without going into details ofthe date of the meetings, the source said the talks between the Afghan factionswould happen with the cooperation of Germany.
On the other hand, High PeaceCouncil spokesman Javed Ghafoor confirmed the German-aided intra-Afghandialogue would take place in Qatar
He said President Ashraf Ghaniand US special representative Zalmay Khalilzad met on Sunday evening andunderlined the need for intra-Afghan dialogue on ending the ongoing war in thecountry.
HPC Secretary Mohammad OmarDaudzai was also present at the meeting, he said, adding that the peace bodywas striving hard to pave the way for the talks.
The Taliban have not yetcommented about the intra-Afghan talks in Qatar. (Pajhwok)
