Roraima's energy auction yields USD 408 mn

São Paulo – The auction for power supply to Roraima, Brazil, held this Friday (31), yielded BRL 1.62 billion (USD 408 mn) in investments to hire a power of 293.8 megawatts. Prices ranged from BRL 670 to BRL 1.059.17 (USD 168.54-266.44) for the amount paid for megawatt/hour (MWh).

Overall, nine enterprises were authorized to supply energy to Boa Vista and other connected cities. Out of them, eight will have 15-year contracts to work with natural gas or renewable sources. They include Uniagro, which will offer power from wood-based biomass plants, as well as Enerplan and BBF, which won with hybrids of biofuel and solar power.

Supply is expected to begin on June 28, 2021. Today auction had 156 participating enterprises. Roraima is the only state that is not part of the National Interconnected System.
