Now, Omanis can become tour guides at 18 years

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- To attract more Omani youth to be tour guides, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has amended the age limit for obtaining a tourist guide licence.
Omanis who have attained the age of 18 years can now apply for a tour guide licence while expatriates can only apply for a licence by the age of 25.
Earlier, both Omanis and expatriates could apply for a tourist guide licence at the age of 21.

MoT stressed that apart from the age limit, candidates must also present a good conduct certificate and should be fluent in a foreign language in addition to Arabic.

'Candidates should also pass a test and an interview in order to get the licence. Anyone can apply through the website omantourism.gov.om,' the ministry stated.

The ministry confirmed that licences are issued for three types of guides in the sultanate: general tour guide, local tour guide and a specialised tour guide.
