UN official alarmed on Libyan inmates' human rights


(MENAFN) Fears were raised by deuty special representative of the UN secretary general for political affairs in Libya, Stephanie Williams on the condition of human rights jailed Libyans are witnessing.

In a statement, the UN Support Mission in Libya stressed: "while she asserted the UN support to improve the judicial police capabilities, she raised concerns about human rights situation in prisons that require immediate action."

Reports arose of inmates in Libya being struggling with massive overcrowding of prisoners.

It was also reported that prison breaks are frequently being witnessed in Libya as a result of weak security and a shortage in judicial police in the Ministry of Justice.
