Doha: Following the launch of Qatar's first ever Patient Experience Forum earlier this year, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is inviting submissions from healthcare professionals interested in presenting at the event and sharing their knowledge and expertise on delivering the best patient experience.

The forum, which is being organised by the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE), under the direction of Nasser Al Naimi, Deputy Chief of Quality, Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, will take place in Doha from November 16 to 17, 2019.

Al Naimi encouraged healthcare professionals to consider expressing their interest to present at the forum, noting the event aims to improve understanding of what great patient care is all about and to help healthcare providers develop the skills needed to ensure a patient's care experience is overwhelmingly positive.

'As healthcare providers, our job is to ensure that the trust our patients and their families place in us every single day is reflected in the care we provide.

By developing a truly patient-centred approach to care through a real partnership with patients and their families we can not only improve how a patient feels about their healthcare experience but also their recovery outcome, said Al Naimi.

We all have valuable learnings to share which can make the care we provide to our patients better than ever before. I encourage all healthcare professionals to share their knowledge and experiences at this important gathering, said Al Naimi.

Healthcare professionals are invited to submit a proposal to host a breakout session or workshop, presentation or lecture, or a poster presentation for one of the conference's three tracks: Better Experience, Better Engagement, and Better Culture and Healthy Communities.

The Better Experience track focuses on delivering a person-centred model of care which involves healthcare providers working together with patients and their families to design and deliver a customised care plan which reflects and respects their preferences and values.

The Better Engagement track focuses on the importance of two-way communication between the healthcare provider, their patients and their families throughout the healthcare journey.

The Better Culture and Healthy Communities track focuses on how recognising what is important to a patient and their family and collaboratively designing and managing care systems can improve the overall care experience and health outcomes.

Healthcare professionals who submit successful entries will join a number of speakers from internationally renowned US-based healthcare consultants, Planetree Inc., as well as local and regional faculty who will hold both didactic and working sessions on various patient experience related topics.
