Jordan launches renewable energy plans at USD70.5m

(MENAFN) Renewable energy initiatives valued at USD70.5 million were launched in Jordan over the last four years via the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF).

Under the projects, Jordan is looking to reinforce the role that renewable energy plays in the total energy mix of the Kingdom.

Around USD26.7 million of the overall energy mix is accounted from the JREEEF, with the remaining amount coming from donors and project owners.

Minister Hala Zawati voiced gratitude for the part being taken by donors, especially the European Union (EU), Canada, Italy's Ministry of Environment and the French Development Agency.
