Dubai jewellery designer rapes woman 20 times after meeting her online

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A jewellery designer is standing trial in Dubai's Court of First Instance after he allegedly repeatedly raped a 53-year-old woman at his place.
Public prosecution records show the incident took place in Al Barsha on January 4 of this year, when a 32-year-old Nigerian man lured a Serbian woman to his place.
They met online via a dating app.

He has been detained and faces charges of rape and physical assault.

During investigation, the complainant recounted how she met the man. She said they met on an online dating app on January 4, after which he invited her to a caf in Marina.

"I took a cab to see him, but on arriving at the cafe, he threatened me with a knife to come to his place. On reaching his place, he locked the door and snatched my two mobile phones, my passport. He also took off my clothes and my shoes."

She told the prosecutor that the defendant raped her in the bedroom around 20 times.

"He hit me with his hand and deprived me of food and water," adding that he threatened her to sit still, and forced her to eat dog food.

He later let her out of the building and stopped a cab for her.

Her daughter called the police after she got home, the victim told the police.

Surveillance footage from the defendant's building showed him entering the building at 10:23pm on January 4 with the woman in tow. The CCTV cameras did not capture any visible weapon in his hands.

Another recording showed them walking out of the building at 6:29pm the next day, according to a report by the general directorate of criminal evidence and forensics.

According to the forensic report, the defendant's DNA traces were found on the victim's body.

The victim was left with bruises after the incident. A medical examination showed she had Hepatitis B.

The investigators noted in the case file that the defendant had a separate rape case filed against him at Al Barsha police station, in which he was accused of raping a Ukrainian woman.

The victim travelled to Turkey through Dubai International Airport on February 11 and never returned.

The trial has been adjourned to June 30.
