German police carry out operations targeting criminal group


(MENAFN) Police declared that over 500 emergency forces carried out searches of 43 properties in the Cologne area and the Ruhr area which was owned by a suspected coordinated crime ring.

The missions were conducted in 11 cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and were targeting 34 suspected people from the alleged "Al-Salam-313" gang, the Essen police announced.

The Essen police added: "Most of those affected have Iraqi or Syrian citizenship. Some of them are German citizens".

The members of the "Al-Salam-313" ring were indicted of multiple criminal charges and were being questioned, among other things, for "trafficking in arms and narcotics, as well as for smuggling and counterfeiting," according to the Essen police.
