Riyadh, May 22, 2019SPA -- The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, expressed deep thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their tangible support for the humanitarian and relief work in Yemen by providing $ 1.5 billion at the donor conference last February, as well as their grant of $ 930 million to the Yemeni people in addition to $ 300 million based on their previous pledge in last November.
He also commended their role to facilitate the access of aid in the city of Hodeidah, enabling the UN to speed up relief operations and meet food needs.
This came during a press conference held today following a high-level humanitarian meeting between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the presenceof Advisor to the Royal Court, General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah.
