40 people shot dead in village attack in Nigeria


(MENAFN) Officials and residents declared that gunmen have shot dead over 40 people in an attack on a Nigerian village in the country's northwest Kaduna state.

Ibrahim Idris, police Inspector General has declared that the bandits crashed into Gwaska, and opened clashes with local defense forces guiding the community of nearly 3,000 people.

He added that 200 police officers, along with patrol vehicles were called to the site.

A resident who assisted in fighting the bandits confirmed that more than 40 people have died, and suspected the death toll to rise.
