5 officers dead in Taliban clashes in Afghanistan


(MENAFN) A police spokesperson declared that clashes in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province, has left five policemen and 15 Taliban militants dead.

The spokesman for the regional chief police in Kandahar, Zia Durrani confirmed that another nine officers were injured in the attack on a police patrol in Marouf district close to the border with Pakistan.

Durrani added that 15 Taliban members have died as another 11 have been wounded in the clashes which continued for many hours.

The Taliban spokesman, Qari Yussouf Ahmadi, announced online that the Taliban has carried out this attack.
