DOSHANBE- The Afghan people have never been so close to peace as today despite thatuncertainties still exist in the war-torn nation, Chinese State Councilor andForeign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday, calling for inclusive dialogue amongAfghans.
"Afteryears of war and turmoil in Afghanistan, peace has eventually becomepossible," Wang told reporters after meeting with Tajikistan's PresidentEmomali Rahmon.
Asneighbors of Afghanistan, China and Tajikistan have coordinated stances on howto promote reconciliation and reconstruction in the country, Wang said.He urgedall parties and factions in Afghanistan to reach extensive politicalconsensuses through inclusive dialogue and facilitate the "Afghan-led,Afghan-owned" political process.
"Wehope the negotiation between the United States and the Taliban can lead to adeal that is conducive to the process, and hope other multilateral mechanismson the issue of Afghanistan can play positive roles for the process aswell," he noted.
Chinahas never interfered in Afghanistan's internal affairs, Wang said, adding thatChina is willing to continue to play a constructive role for peace inAfghanistan and make contributions to its reconstruction.
'Fourgood' relationship
Duringhis talks with Rahmon, Wang said China and Tajikistan have formed arelationship marked by "four goods" – good neighbors, good friends,good comrades and good partners – and therefore should be running at theforefront of building a community of shared future for mankind.
Rahmonsaid Tajikistan is ready to further align its national development strategy by2030 with the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, and to promote bilateralpragmatic cooperation in the economic and trade sector, agriculture, scienceand technology, humanities, infrastructure construction, among others.
Healso expressed readiness for further joint work with China in international andregional affairs, in particular, in the fight against terrorism, separatism andextremism as well as transnational organized crime.
Accordingto Wang, the two sides reached a consensus on promoting the development of theShanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction andConfidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).China and Tajikistan are bothmembers of the SCO and participants in the CICA. Wang noted that the twocountries will support the SCO to play a more active role in maintainingregional security and stability as well as promoting common development andprosperity.
Chinafirmly supports Tajikistan in holding the fifth summit of the CICA in June andpromoting further development of cooperation within the framework of themechanism, he said.
Wangalso held talks with Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on thesame day, saying that bilateral relations are at their "best time inhistory." (Xinhua)
