(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) A DNA test has confirmed that National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) leader Saharan Hashim was among the bombers killed during the suicide attacks on Easter Sunday.
Blood samples had been obtained from the daughter of Saharan Hashim to conduct the DNA test.
Zahran's daughter had been found at a house in Kalmunai in which a suicide bomber triggered explosives a couple of days after the Easter Sunday attacks.
DNA tests have now found that Saharan Hashim was among two suicide bombers killed at the Shangri-la Hotel in Colombo.
Police spokesman Ruwan Gunsekera said that DNA tests have also confirmed the identity of all the other suicide bombers as well.
He said the Government analyst department has confirmed the identities of the bombers through the DNA tests.
There was speculation earlier that Saharan Hashim may not have been one of the bombers and that he may still be alive.
