(MENAFN- Asia Times) Taiwan's Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor has been organizing vocational training courses to help immigrants get better-paid jobs.
A 29-year-old Vietnamese woman named Nguyen from Phu Tho province benefitted by completing a certified beautician course at the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Regional Branch of the Workforce Development Agency, the Taiwan News reported.
Eleven years ago when she finished high school, she flew to Taiwan and became a factory worker at a mobile phone manufacturing plant in Taoyuan, where she met her Taiwanese husband. They married and have a daughter.
However, the couple divorced when the daughter was five and Nguyen became a single mother working part-time jobs to raise her child. About one year ago, friends recommended she enroll in a government-commissioned 280-hour beautician course, where she learned to do professional make-up.
Nguyen now earns NT$40,000 to NT$50,000 a month, improving her and her daughter's circumstances. Now she has started her own beauty parlor and is proud of her work and professionalism.
