Ukraine is EU's priority EU Commissioner Malmström

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Support and partnership with Ukraine is an unconditional priority for the European Union, and the EU believes the path of reforms that already bear fruit will continue.

European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström said this during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in Kyiv today, the Government portal reported.

"Whatever happens, you must know that the EU is a partner and a friend of Ukraine. Under your leadership, the Government has carried out a number of reforms that are obvious to us. Our trade relations are actually growing. It is important for Ukraine to continue reforms, in the framework of the Association Agreement with the EU and in the context of IMF cooperation programs. I want to confirm that support and partnership with Ukraine is our consistent policy," Malmström stated.

In turn, Groysman noted that Ukraine and the EU had a large and important agenda. "Our relations are developing, but we need to accelerate. We have ensured macroeconomic stability, and this means that the issue of mutual trade is of tremendous importance to us. I am satisfied with our meeting and I am pleased that our cooperation prolongs as we follow our path," the prime minister added.

The EU's share in total exports of Ukrainian goods exceeds 42%. At present, the parties are discussing the possibilities of expanding trade relations and making appropriate amendments to the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement, which will be mutually beneficial for both Ukraine and the European Union.
