(MENAFN) A senior official declared that heavy downpours and floods are expected to strike areas of Haihe River valley during the upcoming flood season.
Ye Jianchun, vice minister of water resources, confirmed that China is to witness more severe weather events this year with the north receiving less rain than the south, and the Haihe River valley is likely to face floods.
The Haihe River valley will begin flood season on June 1.
The country confronts a tough challenge of eliminating floods and battling droughts in the river valley, according to Xu Qin, governor of Hebei Province, calling for massive efforts to solve concealed threats and make alerts and predictions timely and accurate.
