Amman, May 19 (Petra) -- The Kingdom will be affected by a dry hot air mass as of Wednesday, said the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) on Sunday.
Temperature will begin to rise gradually, and is expected to reach a high of 35 degrees Celsius on Wednesday during the daytime, which 6-7 degrees higher than average, and 41- 43 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and Dead Sea areas, JMD's latest analyses revealed.
Analyses of air masses and its movements showed the heatwave may peak on Friday, adding Amman is forecast to register a high of 38 degrees Celsius and 44- 45 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and Dead Sea areas, JMD's Director Hussein Momani told Petra.
He called on citizens to avoid direct exposure to the sun, especially at peak hours.
The heatwave is expected to subside as of next Saturday, Momani said, urging the public to check JMD's website at www.jmd.gov.jo for the latest weather updates or contact the department at 4916190 and 4916191 or check out its Facebook page or smartphone app JMDWEATHER.
