Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) and Golden Tulip Doha Hotel held a group Iftar banquet for the seniors at the Centre for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan).
The event is part of QRCS's psychological support programmes for older persons, as well as a form of partnership with fellow organisations and donors.
It was attended by many QRCS volunteers, representatives of the three partners, some social media influencers, and 21 seniors from Ehsan Centre. The seniors and the volunteers spoke and broke their fast together, and felt the warm and friendly spirit of one family.
QRCS honoured both Ehsan Centre and Golden Tulip Doha for making this charity event such a success.
Ramzi Asili, General Manager of Golden Tulip Doha, stated, 'It is the second year in a row that this event is co-organised by QRCS and us. We work together all over the year, as we usually host their meetings and events. It is a commitment to social responsibility, and we will keep offering all help as much as possible.
'In light of the great success of last year's event, Ehsan was very interested and enthusiastic to have another edition held, said Asili. 'This is not everything. Next year, we are planning to distribute Iftar meals at the public sightseeing places widely visited by families and children.
Ahmed A Al-Khulaifi, Head of Volunteering Section at QRCS, thanked Ehsan Centre and Golden Tulip Doha for their cooperation in putting a smile on the faces of the seniors. 'They are not seen as older persons. They are our source of pride and mercy, he commented.
Al-Khulaifi urged the volunteers and all the youth to keep visiting and socialising with seniors, particularly in the holy month of Ramadan.
Jaber M Al-Merri, Communication and Media Manager at Ehsan Centre, commended the initiative by QRCS and Golden Tulip Doha, which reflected the good tripartite relations.
'It is a thank you message sent to the seniors for their life-long sacrifice and giving. We wish to see them happy all the time. Any similar effort to serve the seniors is highly welcomed, he added.
