(MENAFN- Caribbean News Now) Dear Sir:
Everything that affects our national standard of living is being corruptively influenced and manipulatively controlled by Politicians and other Public officials appointed by the Citizens of the great Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The population must show constitutional fortitude in the upcoming Local Elections and break this legacy of employment strangulation, oppression through taxation, infrastructural development retardation and social imprisonment which are being imposed upon the nation as a consequence of the failures of this present Rowley-led Administration.
Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) is calling on the population to send a clear message of discontent to this present Rowley led Administration in the upcoming local elections. We have concluded that Trinidad and Tobago have become a failed state. We have reached the point where the basic conditions and responsibilities of this present Rowley led administration no longer functions properly. Our political, social and economic systems have become weak and dysfunctional. Corrupt Politics run our institutions and Criminals runs our streets.
Police vehicles being stolen whilst everyday gun battle between rival gangs on Nelson Street rage on, even in the presence of the Police Officers. The Criminals who have been bred by the social and economic failures of this Rowley – led Government and political party. Off course some of the population will disagree. But we challenge you to deny this argument.
Look at the areas where the existence of Criminal Elements has been concentrated over the years of years. The evidence will show that the PNM has been consistently present as the representative for these areas. The records will also show that the PNM has been in political power for most of the years of our independence. The Social and Economic oppression that these areas have had to endure under the leadership of the PNM has done the obvious. Our brothers and sisters in these areas are living in despair and this has bred Crime. Instead of receiving economic hope, we are receiving a promise of ten days' work and bullets. The lives of Children are snuffed out daily and the aspiration of the Survivors are being murdered by the higher cost of living and zero sustainable employment opportunities.
The break down in our Justice institutions is also widespread. How much relief from crime can we really hope to receive from this government? Can gun-slinging and public stunts of showing force against criminal servants, police-involved shooting in Careenage, visiting reggae artists and such like, solve the problem of the white-collar financiers of criminal enterprises?
We have legislation left, right and center being drafted daily by the Super-Model Judicial General of the government while the Younger Lieutenant dictates threats and innuendos to anyone who dares challenge the decisions of the Supreme Leader. The legislature; the anti-terrorism, anti-gang, FIU and asset forfeiture bills, the judiciary; the Chief Justice Affair, bureaucracy, and armed forces in this country have lost their capacity and professional independence. What about some action towards promoting efficiency and speed in the delivery of justice, in a speed that could match the unspecified speeds that the well-paid Officials and Private Security companies delivering Prisoners are allowed alike to drive through traffic on a daily basis, flashing lights that demand a parting of the sea of citizens who have to endure daily hours of traffic. Look at the quality and the price of gas and how it has affected our fisher-folks, owners of private vehicles, vehicles for hire and the traveling public! Only minimal public services are rendered. Most citizens of this country no longer believe this government is relevant, and it has already started showing signs of irrelevance in the international stage.
Clear political interference can be deduced with the raid on Jagriti and Buju Banton's hotel, all in an attempt to divert people's attention from the evolving Venezuelan fiasco, involving the un-vetted applicants for this administration's "ID for Vote program" and the influx of criminal gangs from Venezuela.
The recent raids without warrants of homes in the Gulf View area where nothing was found points to another attempt to divert people's attention from the grave error the state made in arresting Anand Ramlogan and Gerald Ramdeen. It is alleged that Faris coerced QC Vincent Nelson into cooperating with the state and to give a statement. Can you imagine 3 years of investigations and an unimaginable sum of money spent on housing, salaries, legal and other expenses and all they have to show was a statement from QC Vincent Nelson? And how possible it is for an Attorney General to hand pick a prosecuting attorney in this matter; Keith Scotland?
This Rowley-led administration has proven that they have no plans for protecting our borders against the influx of drugs, high powered weapons and criminals from Venezuela and other countries. The deliberate and blatant sharing of videos and pics with persons brandishing high powered weapons over social media exhibits that this government is unable to fulfill the administrative and organizational tasks required to control people and resources.
Other indications of our failed state are the mismanagement of state assets; TSTT, T & TEC, WASA and the closing of Petrotrin are excellent examples. Crumbling infrastructures, such as roads, faltering utility supplies, such as water, and educational matters as can be seen with the increase of school violence and our deteriorating health facilities which are now affected by blackouts and fire. There are also deteriorating basic human-development indicators, such as infant mortality, literacy rates, and gang indoctrination.
An environment of flourishing corruption and negative growth rates has been created, where honest economic activity cannot any longer flourish. It is clear our failed state, this present failed administration, our government which has now become irrelevant cannot maintain a monopoly on the legitimate use of violence to minimize internal conflict. It cannot formulate or implement public policies to effectively build infrastructure and deliver services or effective and equitable economic policies.
In addition, it cannot provide for the representation and political empowerment of its citizens or protect civil liberties and fundamental human rights; there are still a number of women and children trapped in concentration camps across Syria and Iraq awaiting repatriation. It is with absolute certainty our state's failure manifests itself when it could no longer deliver physical security, a productive economic environment, and a stable political system for its people.
In light of all this Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front) calls on the population to send a clear message of dissatisfaction to this present Rowley led Administration in the upcoming local elections. This government has failed the people and has rendered this Twin Island State irrelevant.
Umar Abdullah
Head of Waajihatul Islaamiyyah (The Islamic Front)
