Congratulations to Qatar and to Supreme Committee

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Dear Sir,
May 16, 2019 is an important day for Qatar, but also for Belgium. On this day we took a significant step towards the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar with the official inauguration of Al Wakrah Stadium, the first newly built FIFA World Cup stadium, during the Emir Cup tonight.
As Belgian Ambassador I am very proud that this achievement is the result of a successful joint venture between MIDMAC Contracting (Qatari company), PORR Qatar (Austrian Company) and Six Construct (Belgian Company).
The joint venture was represented on site by Bjorn Walgraeve, Marwan Daou and Andrea Nassi. Together with their team they achieved the completion of this state-of-the-art 40,000 seat FIFA-compliant stadium in an astonishing 40 months period.
May this be a beautiful example of what the World Cup is about according to FIFA: Living football is… A commitment to the game; A commitment to the people; A commitment to the planet; A Commitment to the future.
Indeed, the construction by an integrated and successful joint venture brought people and nations together. The project obtained the five-star Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) for Sports and Construction Management a real commitment to the planet.
As ambassador I closely followed the construction of this stadium together with my Austrian colleague Willy Kempel during our regular visits to the stadium. It was a pleasure to have it seen built!
Congratulations to Qatar and to Supreme Committee!
Bart De Groof, Belgian Ambassador to Qatar
