USD2.12m sealed in Tunisian trade deficit

(MENAFN) Tunisia registered a boost in its trade deficit from January to April 2019 to stand at USD2.12 million, compared to the 5.08 million dinars witnessed last year.

As revealed the National Institute of Statistics (INS), an 18.7 percent surge was recorded in Tunisian imports to reach 22.1 million dinars.

INS attributed the jump to hikes seen in imports within various sectors covering mining, phosphates, energy products, agricultural and basic food products, equipment and raw materials.

Exports, however, were less than 50 percent from the number posted during the four-month period of 2018.
