Myanmar confiscates huge amount of stimulant tablets




(MENAFN) The Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) declared that huge amount of stimulant tablets were captured on Wednesday from passenger buses in Myanmar's Mandalay region.

The capture was carried out by the police personnel from the Anti-Narcotic Task Force in Patheingyi township in early hours of Wednesday.

Up to 2,200 stimulant tablets worth 11 million kyats (USD7,333) were seized from two passengers on a bus heading from Lashio to Yangon when it was stopped at Kyaukchaw checkpoint at 01:15 a.m. local time.

Also, 120,000 stimulant tablets with the value of at least 600 million kyats (USD 400,000) and 20 grams of heroin worth 1.4 million kyats (USD 933) were discovered concealed in speakers belonging to two women on a passenger bus going from Muse to Yangon when it was searched at the same checkpoint later.
