Amman, May 12 (Petra) - Minister of Education Waleed Maani on Sunday met with the delegation of the International Scout Committee (ISC) and the World Scout Bureau (WSB) which is currently visiting Jordan on its first tour to the Arab region.
During the meeting, Maani stressed the important role played by the scout movement in strengthening the values of teamwork, self-reliance, acceptance of the other, and rejection of violence and extremism among students.
The minister pointed to the role of the scout movement in unleashing students' talents, honing their skills and leadership abilities, and launching their creative energies through their participation in camps, as well as internal and external scout activities.
The minister said Jordan has a number of initiatives and campaigns that develop positive attitudes among students, highlighting the importance of strengthening the relationship between the international and Jordanian scout movements and implementing targeted programs and activities that meet the educational and educational goals that the ministry is constantly striving to achieve.
For his part, Secretary-General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Ahmed Hindawi, highlighted the objectives and history of the global scout movement, stressing the importance of Jordan's role in this movement and the need to enhance technical cooperation with the Jordanian scout movement.
During the meeting, Chairman of the International Scout Committee Edward Andrew also spoke on the reality of the scout movement, and the expansion of youth programs and projects, stressing the importance of the role of schools in providing them with quality capacities and potentials.
This is the first visit to the Arab region by the top leaders of the International Scout Organization, which has 50 million scouts in 170 national scout societies in the world
