(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The German Industry and Commerce Office (AHK) in cooperation with the German Embassy in Muscat held a one-day business round-table meet with tourism authorities in Oman last week.
The event which was held at Kempinski Hotel Muscat focused on the prospects and challenges in the tourism sector.
The meet held under the topic 'Tourism in Oman – Oman's most promising sector', witnessed the presence of around 70 people.
Speaking during the event, H E Thomas Schneider, Ambassador of Germany to Oman, who participated as the guest of honour, said, 'I am happy to be part of this event which has come up with strategies to attract German tourists to Oman and vice versa.'
Dr Lubna al Mazroei, head of Studies, Ministry of Tourism said, 'We must understand how tourism also benefits local economy and creates job opportunities through transport, hotels, airports among many. Tourism must be encouraged and every measure must be taken to make the processes easy and smooth on both the sides. With the Qatar World Cup coming up in 2022 and Expo 2020 Dubai, there are chances of more German tourists coming to Oman from those destinations.'
Discussions were also held to establish national parks in Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams.
