Maldives schools urged to accept students returning from Sri Lanka


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Maldives schools have been urged to accept students returning from Sri Lanka following the Easter Sunday attacks.

Several Maldivian students are studying in Sri Lanka but after the attacks some students have returned to the Maldives.

Former Maldives Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon told the Colombo Gazette that some parents want their children to resume their education in the Maldives and not return to Sri Lanka.

She said that the Maldives Education Minister has been urged to consider allowing students returning from Sri Lanka to be enrolled in schools in Maldives to resume their education uninterrupted.

Dunya Maumoon is the daughter of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the former President of the Maldives. (Colombo Gazette)
